That is not a mis-translation or typo. This is not a Violet Greenstripe. This species is of moderate size, only a 45 foot wingspan and weighing about 300 pounds (140Kg) when full grown, but they are some of the most aggressive creatures known. They will attack anything, even animals much larger than themselves. They can lift their own body weight, because they can also beat their glider wings for lift, unlike the largest dactyls. They will tear off pieces of a larger kill and take it back to their roost in chunks if they have to.
This species is native to the Ttharmine and a scourge to the shipping that remains on that sea. They cannot be scared off or driven off but must be brought down to end their attack. Because they cannot learn to avoid human shipping, they are becoming rare along the traveled parts of the Ttharmine, but still rule the distant reaches of that floating swamp. They have proportionately bigger claws and teeth but shorter jaws than the most feared dactyls of the Myassa, the dripjaws. They must have evolved since the breakout because they are not capable of rising more than a thousand feet above the Ttharmine's current surface.
